FPSF Education Law Partners to Present at Annual NJSBA Workshop in Atlantic City Oct. 23rd to Oct. 26th

Education_partners.jpgFlorio Perrucci Steinhardt & Fader is proud to once again participate as a Gold Sponsor of the New Jersey School Boards Association’s Annual Workshop event, the largest training conference for school officials in the State. The event will be held October 23rd to October 26th at the Atlantic City Convention Center.

Members of the Firm’s Education Practice Group will present several workshops over the course of the 4-day event addressing thousands of attendees from school districts all over New Jersey on topics related to this year’s theme: “Education For a Common Purpose.”

FPSF Partners Kim C. Belin and Joseph D. Castellucci, Jr. will present valuable information for school board members and administrators on timely issues affecting public school districts.

Mr. Castellucci will present “Compassionate Use of Medical Marijuana in the Schools: What You Need to Know.” This discussion will examine the compassionate use of medical marijuana in New Jersey school districts by qualifying student-patients. Mr. Castellucci will review the legal requirements imposed on boards of education and qualifying students as well as explore the legal pitfalls of failing to adhere to these requirements.

Ms. Belin will present “Fry v. Napoleon Community Schools: Service Dogs v. the Exhaustion Requirement.” This discussion will examine the recent Supreme Court decision on service dogs in the classroom and will address the likely outcomes if the proper procedures are followed.

Ms. Belin will also take part in the annual Mock Board Meeting, a highly-anticipated Workshop session featuring school law professionals conducting a “mock school board meeting” addressing school district leaders on hot button issues.

Following the Mock Board meeting, Ms. Belin will be joined by Megan Dzwonskowski, Executive Director of the New Jersey Educational Foundation Partnership, to present “Learning the Benefits of Creating an Educational Foundation” which will focus on the mechanics of establishing an Educational Foundation, identify what it is, and what it is not. The discussion will also outline the legal structure of an Educational Foundation.

See our schedule below for details. Those attending Workshop can also keep up with our Events by downloading the Workshop 2017 Mobile App as well as via Twitter @FPSFlawfirm.com. Click here for more information and the NJSBA Workshop agenda.
