Paul T. Fader Quoted in New Jersey Business Magazine on the Realities of the Ban the Box Law

Paul T. Fader Fader told New Jersey Business magazine:

“I don’t think [the law] is going to change things much for employers, and for the process they go through. Many employers are already sophisticated about what they can and cannot ask in an interview – related to potential discrimination, and otherwise.

“[This law] is just another layer added to their understanding of what the initial interview process should be like. However, whether or not it has an impact on the ability of an individual with a prior criminal history to get employed, and to some extent reduce the unemployment rate in New Jersey, is yet to be seen.”

Fader also advises employers to consult their employment attorney in regards to the new law’s provisions to ensure that new hiring practices will be in compliance with The Opportunity to Compete Act.
